Sunday Night IC & White Plum

Leo has a musical family and they held a family jam session occasionally on a Sunday night. It gradually expanded to include by invitation assorted local musicians with a head for experimentation. In South Minneapolis there are/were a fair few. Eventually the jam nights included myself. After a spot of bother, the result of excess alcohol and marijuana, a split resulted in a core group of musicians who gave me permission to use the recordings we were making at the time, starting in 2004 although I had been playing with them since 2000.
Some of these recordings were done on a 16 track tape machine but more often the jams were recorded in the room with a field recorder.
Eventually I came to possess recordings going back to 2000. Given the green light by Leo to do with the recordings as I see fit on behalf of the Sunday Night Improvisational Collective I’ve put together a handful of virtual Cd’s ranging from straight transfers to highly manipulated but always with the improvisational aesthetic in mind.

Leo and I carry on this improvisational aesthetic with White Plum. Basically Sunday Night with fewer people and a somewhat slightly more disciplined approach. Sometimes joined by Dan Ferguson one time member of the original Plum Flower Embroidery.
